- Observe the Running Status of the Packaging Film
Check the Flatness of the Film: During normal operation, the packaging film should be conveyed flatly and evenly, without obvious wrinkles or slackness. If the packaging film is found to have wavy wrinkles, partial slackness, or tightness, it is likely that there is a problem with the tension control system. For example, after starting the packaging machine, observe the state of the film between the guide roller and the film feeding roller. If the surface of the film is not flat, it is necessary to further check the tension system.
Check the Deviation of the Film: Unstable tension will cause the packaging film to deviate. During the operation of the packaging machine, pay attention to whether the film is conveyed along the predetermined path. If it deviates frequently to one side, in addition to checking the mechanical parts such as the guide roller, it is also necessary to consider whether the tension control system is working properly. For example, if the film continues to deviate to the left, it may be that the tension on the right is insufficient or the tension on the left is too large.
- Monitor System Parameters
Check the Tension Sensor Data: The control system of most packaging machines will display the tension value detected by the tension sensor in real time. Under normal circumstances, this value should fluctuate within a reasonable range set by the equipment. By comparing the actual displayed value with the standard parameters of the equipment, if the value deviation is large, or the value fluctuates abnormally, it means that the tension sensor may be faulty, or there is a problem with the entire tension control system. For example, if the standard tension value is set at 5-8N, and the actual displayed value is higher than 10N or lower than 3N for a long time, the tension system needs to be checked.
Check the Operating Parameters of the Tension Control Motor: Check whether the speed, current, and other operating parameters of the tension control motor are stable and meet the equipment requirements. If the motor speed is fast and slow, or the current fluctuates abnormally, it may be a fault of the motor itself, or there may be a problem with the signal transmission between the motor and the control system, which affects the normal adjustment of the tension. These parameter information can be obtained through the monitoring interface of the equipment or professional testing instruments.
- Check the Components of the Tension Control System
Check the Tension Sensor: First, check whether the appearance of the tension sensor is damaged, such as the shell being broken, the line being damaged, etc. Then, check whether the connection line of the sensor is firm, loose, or has poor contact. You can use a multimeter to detect the electrical parameters such as the resistance value of the sensor to determine whether it is working properly. If the sensor's appearance and circuit are normal, but the detected tension data is abnormal, the sensor may need to be calibrated or replaced.
Check the Tension Control Motor: Observe whether the motor runs smoothly and whether there is any abnormal noise or vibration. Touch the motor housing with your hand to feel whether its temperature is too high. If the motor temperature rises abnormally, there may be motor overload or internal fault. In addition, check the transmission parts of the motor, such as belts, couplings, etc., to see if there is wear or looseness. These problems may also affect the accurate control of tension.
Check the Control Circuit and Controller: Check whether the relays, contactors, and other components in the control circuit are working properly, whether there is contact burnout, coil damage, etc. Check whether the controller's setting parameters are correct, and whether there are program errors or system failures. If necessary, you can use a professional circuit detection instrument to detect the control circuit, or try to restart the controller to see if it can return to normal.
