How To Start A Paper Cup Production Line

Aug 22, 2025

Starting a paper cup production line requires strict operating procedures to ensure production safety and product quality. These procedures typically include the following steps:

Pre-startup Preparation

Prepare raw materials: Secure sufficient cup body paper, cup base paper, sealing adhesive, silicone oil, etc. Verify material quantities and inspect quality-for example, check that PE-coated paper complies with GB9687 (the standard for polyethylene molded products used in food packaging) and confirm the paper is free of delamination, spots, or wrinkles.

Check the power supply: Turn on the power button on the control panel to confirm the machine's power display is normal and that the set temperature reaches the preset value, ensuring heating components function properly.

Lubricate and clean components: Apply a small amount of lubricant to moving parts (e.g., drive chains, gears) and wipe areas that come into contact with products to prevent contamination of paper cups.

Inspect connection stability: Check for loose screws or set screws in the machine's moving parts. Tighten any loose fasteners immediately to avoid malfunctions during operation.

Adjust the air pressure valve: Set the air pressure valve to the required pressure according to production specifications, preparing for subsequent processes (e.g., paper feeding, lamination) that rely on air pressure.

Install cup base paper: Mount the cup base paper correctly, taking special care to distinguish between front and back. Ensure proper tension to guarantee smooth, even paper feeding.

Equipment Preheating

Turn on the cup-making equipment's main power, heating power, and host power. Preheat for a specified period (typically around 30 minutes) as outlined in the equipment manual or based on past production experience. Some machines are equipped with a dehumidifier, which can be activated during preheating. Monitor temperature changes and proceed only once the set temperature is reached.

Set Production Parameters

Configure parameters based on paper cup specifications and material properties. For instance:

Set the base gluing temperature to 230–300°C;

Adjust production speed to approximately 40–50 cups per minute;

If using ultrasonic gluing for the cup wall, set the wave duration to 2–3 seconds.

Test Run

Once all preparations are complete, start the main machine for a brief test run (a few seconds). Observe whether mechanical movements-such as bottom paper feeding, knurling, cup rim rolling, and finished product unloading-operate smoothly, and ensure consistent bottom paper supply. If anomalies are detected, stop the machine immediately to troubleshoot.

Official Production Startup

After confirming no issues, press the "Start" button to activate the feeding system. Paper cups will then undergo the full production process, including forming, cup body gluing, and cup base bonding. During production, continuously monitor equipment operation and paper cup quality, adjusting parameters as needed.
